The quiet man.

Roy was my classmate in the University of South Carolina NROTC program, Class of 1968. I remember him as a quiet, friendly young man. Very polite to everyone. Not the typical Marine candidate. I learned of his tragic death several years after I returned from Vietnam. I think of Roy and many other friends named on the Wall every day. Rest in peace, my friend. You did your duty. Semper Fi.

Thank you and Semper Fidelis

Roy was one year ahead of me in NROTC at the University of South Carolina. We had both selected to serve in the Marine Corps and he was my mentor. I was devastated to hear of his death in Vietnam. He has been in my thoughts all of these years and especially on Memorial Day. Rest In Peace and thank you.
