Love of my life
I first dated Lloyd in Kankakee Illinois when I was, I believe I was 14. He had a 57 Chevy that was absolutely beautiful and he would come and pick me up and we go to the end of root beer stand and get a root beer I was so young, and he treated me with great respect and never got out of hand at all. I hugged the door all the time when I was in his car we saw each other for a long time and then we drifted apart and we connected again in 67 when he was in Vietnam and I would write him and send him care packages and I sent him pictures of me and my bathing suit and he had a good friend in Vietnam and I can’t remember his name but I came home from school one day and opened the newspaper in there on the front page was the article of him being killed. It made a dent in my life to say the least I went to his funeral. I met his sister. I truly loved Lloyd and I think he loved me too. We had a very brief relationship, but it was a very sweet relationship and I know that I continue to write his friend in Vietnam and he lived in Ohio and I always hoped I would meet him. We vote for at least a year or more and he came through Kankakee one day and went to my home and I wasn’t there. He wanted to meet me, but he always said Lloyd spoke very highly of me. Lloyd Phillips was the love of my life. He was the most gorgeous man I’ve ever met and seeing his picture brought back so many memories of a 14-year-old girl dating he must’ve been 19 or 18 maybe but he came in the house and met my dad and asked my father if he could take me out he was a southern gentleman. I love Lloyd Phillips. I’ll always love him and I have been to the Vietnam memorial wall and I found his name and I did a rubbing of his name and I keep it in my Bible and I always think what my life would’ve been like if him and I would’ve married I think I would’ve had a very wonderful life. I love you, Lloyd Phillips.

Still Thinking of You My Friend
I still remember the day you left for Viet Nam as your sister Jeanie and I watch you leave for Viet Nam. I also remember the day we heard of your death and the sadness and anger we felt for such a hero that left us too soon defistated. Even though you left too soon.
You will never be forgotten in our hearts and minds forever.
Rest in peace my friend.
