Remembering Sgt. Binon on Memorial Day 2024
58 years ago I was a platoon leader, B Company, 1st Bn, 27th Inf. Sgt. Binion was a squad leader in my platoon. I was there that fateful day when we lost him while on an early morning operation. He kicked out of the way a piece of corrugated metal resting on a mound ahead of his squad. It concealed a waiting enemy soldier who fatally shot him. We were all completely devastated. To this day, I consider Sgt. Binion the very best soldier I had ever commanded. I had never met a soldier with his leadership capabilities. His men looked up to him accordingly. He was a truly great American hero.

Thank You Brave Soldier
SGT Thomas Binion, for your service and your sacrifice for our country, for our freedoms. A mere “thank you” seems so inadequate for your sacrifice. May our country always recognize and celebrate you for the hero you are. Rest In Heavenly Peace, Brave Soldier. Hooaah!
