IN MEMORY OF...!
IN MEMORY OF...!
RICHARD W. PERSHING, THE GRANDSON OF THE FAMOUS AMERICAN GENERAL OF THE ARMY IN EUROPE DURING WORLD WAR ONE .
IT WILL BE 50 YEARS (2018) SINCE RICHARD WAS KILLED IN VIET NAM IN 1968, 13 DAYS AFTER HE ARRIVED THERE.
I WISH TO MENTION AND HONOR HIS MEMORY. I SERVED WITH HIM IN BASIC TRAINING AND ADVANCED INFANTRY TRAINING AT FORT DIX NEW JERSEY AND AT FORT BENNING GEORGIA I SERVED WITH HIM AT OFFICER CANDIDATE SCHOOL FOR 3 MONTHS.
RICHARD PERSHING WAS A GREAT PERSON, A GOOD LEADER AND A FRIEND. HE WAS NOTHING LIKE THE INCOMPETENT LEADERSHIP THAT EXISTS TODAY IN AMERICA. HE WOULD NOT HOWEVER DISGRACE HIS GRANDFATHER'S MEMORY BY RESIGNING FROM OFFICER CANDIDATE SCHOOL.
WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT OBLIGATIONS. I BELIEVE I FULFILLED MINE TO A GREAT EXTENT AS BEST I WAS ABLE.

James Wm. Pandeli AMERICA LOST A GREAT DEAL WHEN RICHARD WAS KILLED IN VIET NAM IN 1968. I MORE THAN MOST REALIZE THIS.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear 2LT Richard Warren Pershing, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
