honoring you....

War drew us from our homeland
In the sunlit springtime of our youth.
Those who did not come back alive remain
in perpetual springtime -- forever young --
And a part of them is with us always.

Thank You

Dear PFC Herman Payne, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is Easter Thursday. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

I'll always remember the day you were killed, I had been up on the edge of the Z with a couple of Marines on a observation post. When we came back in the wire Pewton was waiting for me to let me know that you and Kelly had been killed. He walked me over to the jeep that you had been riding in, asked me a couple of questions about your injuries and we returned to the squad bunker. Everyone was pretty torn up.
Your silly antics were missed, you were always good for a much needed laugh. Rest Peacefully my friend. Doc H
