Miss you Steve

We dated a while before you left, I knew we would have married when you returned but that didn't happen. Very sad, love always, Marilyn

My High School Friend

Steve and I were debate partners in High School. He was quick, smart, and had movie star good looks. He often said he'd do things just so he could say he had the experience. He was popular with the girls, and I got to be his wingman. It's hard to imagine that he has now been gone for over 52 years. God Speed good friend.

Thank You

Dear Sgt Steven Paxson, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is Easter Thursday. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Misadventure (Friendly Fire)

SP4 Kenneth L. Smith and SGT Steven D. Paxson were infantrymen serving with B Company, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry, 4th Infantry Division. On May 22, 1969, they were on a combat operation with their unit in Kontum Province, RVN, spotting supporting mortar rounds directed at the enemy. While adjusting fire direction just outside LZ Jood, one round fell short and landed near their position. Smith and Paxson were fatally injured after being hit by mortar fragments.
