My Platoon Sgt

I was Jose's platoon leader the day he was killed and standing next to him when he was shot. Jose saved my life that day. He was an exceptional soldier, a fine man, and always my hero.

Remembrance of a Fine Soldier and Man

I served as the Senior Medic of Co. D from Jan. 1, 1968 to May 12 or 15, 1968. When I left he was doing very well. I cried when I found out he was lost in June of 1968. His leadership saved many young men from getting hit during our tour. He was respected and love by his men, because he cared about all of us.

You are missed so very much!

I am the mother of one of Jose's many beautiful grandchildren, and although I don't share his last name, his granddaughter does. She is 5 years old and asks about her grandfather often. Her and I have been blessed with many wonderful people in our lives and she has terrific grandparents... but she misses her Grandpa Joe... although she never met him, she includes him in her prayers every night. This site was sent to me from her Uncle- and it was a great way to share with Julia the wonderful man her grandfather was- and to have a picture of him made it that more special.
I've never heard a cross word spoken about Jose Aguon, and I can honestly say his time here on earth with us may have been short, but he left a lasting impression on his family and they love him and miss him very much.
Julia knows her grandfather is in heaven (the moon) watching over her and keeping her safe.
Now she has this site with his picture to see her grandfather whenever she wants to.
My heart goes out to all who lost loved ones in any war... and thank you for making it possible to have this wall and teach our young ones about those who lost their lives for our freedom.
