I love you, my Brother. My Crew Chief...
William D. Biever ("Pig Pen") is a Hero. I know. He was my Crew Chief on His Huey Helicopter during many very dangorous missions. We, the pilots of 1st Platoon, A Company, 4th Aviation, 4th Divison, nick named him "Pig Pen" after the Peanut's character, because his helicopter was always spotless clean and ready to fly, but Biever could kick up dust in a momsoon storm.
He died behind his M-60 machine gun in his "hell hole" defending his crew members and his beloved helicopter. He could have saved himself by moving up front and buckeling in for the crash... But he would not leave his battle station.
Love you Biever... RIP... your Aircraft Commander Snappy White

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SP5 William Dennis Biever, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
