From your first love's granddaughter

After so much searching, I finally found you!
My grandmother fell in love with you when you visited Arizona. You kept in contact for some time before leaving to Vietnam right before Christmas. Whenever you left, you said you would get married upon your return. She didn't find out about your passing until months later due to her abusive mother. She thinks of you every single day and feels you have been reaching out to her lately.
I am currently serving as a Sergeant of Marines and I think of you fondly as I wear this uniform with pride. I hope that one day I am able to shake your hand in heaven. Rest in peace, Patrick.
