honoring you.....

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

Charles H. Oxendine

Even tho my brother's first names was Charles, most people called him Charlie. He was in college & decided to go into the military to get assistances on college tuition. He was a sweet & considerate person & had many friends. Even today quite a few still remember him. His best friends were Johnny Woodell & James A. Oxendine(Buddy). He is always missed in our family.

Thank You

Dear Sp4 Charles Oxendine, Thank you for your service as a Tactical Wire Operations Specialist. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Lent has begun, and it is the end of winter. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

My Big Brother

He was 3 years 4 months older than me. As a youngster I followed him around like a little puppy dog. The habit was broken when he went to stay with our Aunt when her husband died. When he came back home it was my turn to go. We were always close. Even at 16 or 17 years old he would let me hang out with him. I enjoyed it when those occasions came along. He joined the Army in January 1968. When he got his orders to go to Vietnam my Uncle and I took him to a friend house in north central NC. I told him to be careful and hurry back home. That was the last time I got to talk to him. We got the bad news on a Sunday morning. Love you brother. I wish you were still here.
