Neighborhood Friend
Carlton, I doubt that you would remember me...but you would remember my brother Ed Yarnall. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. As a young girl who lived in the neighborhood, I knew of you and your family. We all thought a lot of you. I remember hearing that you loved Track. I remember hearing that you had given your life for your country. Thank you Carlton, for your self discipline, your dedication to God and Country. I admire your courage and your short life that was lived for others. I have thought of you and your family often. Thank you...we will not forget you! A friend and Penncrest Graduate.

On the Beach
Senior year (1964) on college visitation, Carlton, David and I visited the Gettysburg and walked the battlefield. That summer I visited Carlton and David at Penn State and joined them as a student in the fall. I visited Carlton at the family residence just before he left for Nam and had to ask that question "WHY?" Carlton told me many things but what I vividly remember is that he said he was going to write the next great war novel.
