THE WALL OF FACES

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

Dear WO Walter Olinsky, Thank you for your service as an Utility/Observation Helicopter Pilot. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Presidents’, and Valentine’s Days just passed. Tomorrow is the 52nd anniversary of the start of your tour. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Thinking of you Wally throughout this day with memories of that unbearable September 50 long years ago. I often think what might have been if you had come home to us. But you have been with me in my heart and in my thoughts for all of these years. I never fail to think of you and always will when I see or hear a helicopter flying overhead. Sweeter memories come back when I look at our childhood pictures, see a vintage Camaro , hear "Hey Jude", "Cool Moose", or lines from the Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. I still pray for the day that the good memories will overpower the sadness. Even though your family and friends miss you so dearly, we know that having you in our lives was a true gift and for that we are forever thankful.

Oh brave young man we miss you so
And grieve for your lost years
But memories fond we treasure now
To stem the flow of tears
Your love your laughter stays with us
Though we are far apart
Your spirit bright we cherish now
And carry in our hearts
So rest now young man safe and sound
In dreams and hearts and minds
Of those who love you more each day
And will throughout their lives
