Very Sad Day
I also served with him and I called him "Og". I will never forget that day. The morning of 2/23/71 "Og's" ship had a dead battery, so I pulled mine and let him use it to get his cranked.
We were shut down just outside of Khe Sahn waiting for the weather to break and then finally it cleared right around 11:00 and around 11:30 the mid air happened. One of the worst experiences in my life.
Og was a good friend and will be remembered forever.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SP4 Terrance Aki Ogata, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
