Thank You

Dear Lt Gary Offutt, Thank you for your service as a Tactical Aircraft Pilot. I am glad you were identified in 1997, welcome home. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Yesterday was Valentine’s Day and today is Presidents’ Day. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

I came to pay my respects

I didn’t know Gary but as an ex soldier and a Phelps I wanted to pay my respects to a hero. I visited the memorial wall on Aug 6th 2019 from the UK.

If I should die...rammbrances for 1LT Gary P. OFFUTT, USAF...who gave his all for all of us!

If I should die, and leave you here awhile, be not like others, sore undone, who keep long vigils by the silent dust, and weep...for MY sake, turn again to life, and smile...Nerving thy heart, and trembling hand to do something to comfort other hearts than thine..Complete these dear, unfinished tasks of mine...and I, perchance, may therein comfort you.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear 1LT Gary Phelps Offutt, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
