Thank You

Dear Sp5 Patrick O'Shaughnessy, Thank you for your service as an Airborne Qualified Parachute Rigger. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Lent has begun. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP5 Patrick J O'Shaughnessy, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter

Pilgrimage

I finally made the pilgrimage November 12th, 2015 to find your name, Pat. Two Vietnam vets stood beside me as I touched the letters of your name etched on the granite wall. I didn't think it would be as emotional as it was. The tears flowed easily. Both vets had their arms around me telling me it's ok to cry. It was tough. The silence at the memorial was deafening.

The last time I saw you, we walked across the bridge from Wheeling Island to Wheeling together. I looked up to you buddy. I made a rub of your name to send to your sister, Sallie. We still stay in touch. Hope after all these years you are resting in the arms of Jesus. God bless my friend.
