"Danny Nye" Song

My name is Nancy Moore. I wrote the song "Danny Nye" (see link, below). I wrote the song, not knowing that there was a real person named Danny Nye. I was born in 1967, and I hardly knew anything about the Vietnam War. After I wrote the song, I later found the story (see post, below, "Never Forgotten"), about the real man, Daniel Eugene Nye. The similarities to the story that I thought I was making up are astonishing. I hope that if you listen to the song, you are not offended by the harsh language. It was a harsh war. I would like to visit Danny's grave, some day. And pay my respects. If you knew him, I hope you find my tribute meaningful. Thank you for your service, and sacrifice, Danny.

With love and respect.

Sincerely,

Nancy Moore

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SSGT Daniel Eugene Nye, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
