THE WALL OF FACES

I never knew "Mike" (as he was known by Marines from 3rd Platoon Bravo Co.) But a few days after my 19th birthday I arrived in Da Nang to be told that I was being sent to Dong Ha. There I learned I had been selected to take Mike's place. All but one Marine who had been with Mike on March 25th had to be evacuated with wounds so serious they would never return to 3rd Platoon. That one Marine is Hal Miller. Hal, as everyone who knew Mike, only has great things to say about him. Hal and I became friends in our time together in RVN. I'm told old Marines never die, they just regroup in heaven ... so I hope to someday thank Mike for his sacrifice and share stories with him. Semper Fi Marine...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. While all deaths in Vietnam are tragic that you died just two days after your 21st birthday is especially so. Another life taken way too soon...

Thank you for your service and your sacrifice. Thank you for stepping up and answering your country's call. Rest easy knowing you will never be forgotten.
