My Commander and Friend

I served as Colonel Nolde's Battery Commander in 1970 and went to Vietnam that year. He was a good commander, a good soldier and a good friend. I think of him often.

One Golfer to Another

Played golf with Col Nolde in Vicenza, Italy. When I picked up the paper on that Sunday morning and saw his picture on the front page, I was sincerely saddened. Hope you're hitting them long and straight in Heaven

honoring you....

Remember to save for them a place inside of you, and save one backward glance when you are leaving, for the places they can no longer go...

Lest We Forget

I was a friends and school/football teammate of LTC Nolde's son in junior high school in 1968.. The Nolde's left shortly after. In 1973, while a plebe at West Point, it was our job to pick up the newspapers and deliver them to the upperclassmen's rooms before formation. I'll never forget the day in Jan, when I saw the cover of the NYT and was stunned to learn of LTC Nolde's death. My father served two tours in Vietnam, but we were lucky; I can only imagine what the Nolde family went through after and through these many years. In a MI newspaper Mrs. Nolde showed the utmost bravery and wisdom and her words are a personification of the patriot. God Bless her and all the Nolde's.
