Daniel my brother
He was a caring, selfless human being. I was only 14 when he left this world, so young and with so much to offer. He volunteered so he could be a Marine. Somehow I knew in my heart he would never come back. I treasure his letters he sent from Vietnam Nam. The old adage, "only the good die young " truly applies to my brother Danny. I remember so many people showing up to Danny's wake and funeral. The funeral director commented that it was the most people he's ever had at any before.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC Daniel Raymond Nelson, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

We will always remember
To whom it may concern: I am a student at Bishop Hendricken High School. I am doing research on Vietnam and specifically Daniel Nelson. He was a Coventry High School Graduate, played on the hockey team during his time as a student and most of all, gave the ultimate sacrifice as a Marine during Vietnam. If any one can share with me any information about Daniel, a fellow soldier, classmate or family member, please contact me at [email protected]
