Grateful for your sacrifice

Dear Cousin Eugene,
Your sacrifice & your heroism has a very special place in my heart, more than you will ever know, and even tho we never met as I was born a short time after you left for Vietnam, I will never forget you! Your mother, my great Aunt Pearl, had such a big caring and loving heart & was so sweet, she was so proud of you! When I had the opportunity to visit the Moving Wall in 1991 my main goal was to find your name and do a rubbing for her, as I knew she was not able to do so herself. Reading your Silver Star Citation to this day still makes me cry, you sacrificed your life to save others, so many lives saved because of you, Thank you! May you rest in peace, you will never be forgotten. Love, Peanut

honoring you...

War drew us from our homeland
In the sunlit springtime of our youth.
Those who did not come back alive remain
in perpetual springtime -- forever young --
And a part of them is with us always.
