Thank You

Dear Cpl Malvin Nasworthy, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It’s a New Year, but not necessarily better. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Maybe a coincidence, maybe not?

My mother asked me to take her to see the traveling wall memorial in Sackets Harbor NY. While she was looking up the name of the person she came to pay respects to, my daughter wandered over to a monitor that had a slowly running list of names. I heard her yell, “Mom, mom! I saw a Nasworthy!” We asked the volunteers to check and sure enough, there was Melvin. We called my husband William Nasworthy and asked if there was a relation. He believes that Melvin and his father were cousins. As we dug a little deeper, we learned that Melvin and my daughter share the same birthday, exactly 60 years apart. We traced Melvin’s name on the wall and thanked him for his service. I believe we were meant to find him today and we are glad we did.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear CPL Malvin Lowe Nasworthy Jr, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
