I got to Vietnam a few months after Operation Hastings with D 1-1. The marines I served with that were on Hastings told me how tough it was.

I went to high school with Jimmy Nash and we were in the same gym class. He was a pretty good athlete during class and some of the guys would ask him why he didn't try out for any of the athletic teams...His answer was always the same...He didn't want to break or twist or hurt any part of his body because he wanted to be in perfect condition to join the Marine Corp. He was a really good guy...

Almost 55 years ago on the Princeton. You handed your personal possessions to another Marine and said you weren't coming back from this operation. KIA with several others on Hastings. I'll never forget!
