Thank You

Dear Major Harry McLamb, Thank you for your service as a Tactical Aircraft Pilot. You are still MIA. Please come home. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. 75 years ago today, the Treaty was signed that ended WWII. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Be at peace.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear Major Harry Lawrence McLamb, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter

It Is Memorial Day

It Is Memorial Day

It is Memorial Day
Flags mark soldiers’ graves
Each one staked and claimed
Recall sacrifices made
It is Memorial Day

Family, neighbor, stranger
Acknowledging the danger
Burying the treasure
Leaving hearts unmeasured
It is Memorial Day

Graveside taps is playing
21 shots are ringing
We hear the people singing
Broken loved ones crying
It is Memorial Day

He is buried in a field
Cambodia didn’t yield
Plane disintegration
Decades to excavation
It is Memorial Day

Daddy didn’t come back
His accounting was attacked
On return his bridge was found
To be buried in home ground
It is Memorial Day

The grave to mark his place
His presence doesn’t grace
He lives in remembrance
Of family, friends, compatriots
It is Memorial Day

I have no memory of him
And yet I somehow know him
A quilt of others stories
The Wall invoked his glory
It is Memorial Day

You are not forgotten
You are not forgotten
You are not forgotten
You are not forgotten
It is Memorial Day.
