Thank You
Dear PFC Johnie McLain, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Your 75th birthday is soon, happy birthday. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. 75 years ago today, the Treaty was signed that ended WWII. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC Johnie Wayne McLain, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

Life long touch
I was six years old. I never met him nor did I know his family. When he died in Vietnam his home was near mine. I distinctly remember us riding by and my mother saying he had been killed. I saw the wreath and it was burned in my mind forever. Somehow a connection was made that day. When I was in the Army years later I remembered his sacrifice and used it as my benchmark. I have been to the traveling memorial twice and touched his name. I am a better patriot today because of a soldier from my neighborhood that paid the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you Johnie
