Thank You

Dear WO Francis McDowall, Thank you for your service as an Attack Helicopter Pilot with the 1st Cavalry. Tomorrow is your 51st anniversary, sad. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Time passes quickly, but our world needs help. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

I wish I had known you.

I was a Delta Air Lines flight attendant (a year younger than you) on many flights to Europe with your father as Captain during the first few years of Delta's international service, at the end of his career. How I hated for him to have to retire! Frankfurt trips were not as fun with him not there.
Oh how he enjoyed Germany!
And, how he loved German food. esp., sausages! He'd just point at some in a deli & try 5 or 6 new ones on each trip. He never gained weight from all the sausages, German pastries, his sweet wines, & your mom's cookies.
I enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies she made & sent with "Sonny" on each trip long before I met her at his retirement party. She was a joy. as are your sisters.
So, I know you had to be like the proverbial prince among men by having met your
family. Your dad certainly was! Seeing your picture reminds me of him.
You were & are profoundly missed by your family & friends. Not being able to know you has been a loss among others who were never able to know you --- with the loss deeper because we know what a wonderful family you came from & what you & they missed with you gone.
I thank you, though that can never be adequate enough.
Peace be with you, as your spirit still warms others.
