I was 5 years old when you came to visit us. My daddy Harold Garmon was your cousin as I remember. You came and stayed with us when we lived in California. I went to the wall back in 2002 because I wanted to see your name and remember you. I have always thought about the time you spent with us and you were so funny and played with us kids. I remember staying with your wife once and have always wondered what happen to her. I will always remember you and the time we all spent together. My heart was so broke when I heard you had been killed in the war. I’ll never forget you and the sacrifice you made. Rest In Peace

I have always had a hole in my heart when you were killed. I was so you g but you were my first crush and hero. You held me at my Grandpa’s funeral and paid attention to me. I had a reunion with Peggy your widow so there is closure. Just wanted to let you know I still cry when Vietnam is mentioned. You never know how you affect someone. Thank you!

Dear PFC David McCollum, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. I researched you on the 52nd anniversary of the start of your tour. Your 52nd anniversary is this month, sad. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Time passes quickly, but our world needs help. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
