Do not stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Not forgotten.

Harold was my room mate in the barracks in Nam. He loved to fly and taught me, a young lieutenant, a lot about being an aviator. I wasn't flying on the day he died. To me it was like he just disappeared. I have had a lot of trouble dealing with it.

My most lasting memory is packing his things to send home. I think about him often, especially in July.

So a belated goodbye to a great pilot and a great person.
