Like a big brother

Jack was a friend of the family, actually dated my sister. He treated me like a little brother. He sent me his "short time calendar " and I have it to this day.

To My Father

Dad, we have never met, for you were KIA 3 months and 19 days before I was born. I am proud of all that you accomplished in your 21 years. I joined the Marines because of your selfless example.
You were so very young, when you left this earth. We are blessed by God not only to have been born here but to have men and women of generations past and present stepping forward to this call of freedom. I am so proud to be one of your two sons. My brother is in this picture. God bless you dad.
Merry Christmas.

honoring you....

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Thank You

Dear SGT Jack McCann, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Time passes quickly, but our world needs help. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Final Mission of SGT Jack W. McCann

SGT Jack W. McCann, SGT Raymond C. Holt, and SGT Carver J. Vaughn served with K Troop, 3rd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry. On December 27, 1970, the three soldiers were on a dismounted patrol in Binh Duong Province, RVN. At approximately 6:58 PM, while setting up a night defensive position, one of the men stepped on a hostile land mine place there by the Viet Cong. McCann, Holt, and Vaughn were killed after suffering abdominal and head injuries from the blast. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]
