From the daughter of Kathleen (Kathy).
Dear Mr. Benson, I am the daughter of your wife Kathy. I am the youngest of 3 children, I have a sister and a brother. I heard your name growing up and my mom kept your medals in the bottom of her big dresser. I always wonder what life would have been if you were not killed in action. My mom married my dad Aug 28, 1971. You were never forgotten. My mother passed away when she was 40 from cancer. I miss her every day. When my grandmother passed away, my aunt gave my sister and I some pictures. One was of your wedding day I guess, looks like the courthouse in the background. And then a picture of you in Vietnam, you wrote on the back of the picture about what had gone on that day. I just wanted to stop by and thank you for your sacrifice and thank you for your service to the country.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SP4 Allan Cameron Benson, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

A friend from Nam Remembers
Allan ~ It was a pleasure to have known and served with you in Nam. I often remember you and feeling such pain for your young bride (because we both had the same wedding date). Our 40th. Anniversary was last December and I realized if you had lived, it would had been yours as well. I visited the Wall in DC and paid my respects while there. I also visited the wall in Chicago with my 35 year old son (and my granddaughter) and pointed your name out to him there on that Wall. My daughter-in-law took a picture of that event and it was very moving to me. It was 40 years ago last May that you were killed; and even though a VC mortar round that landed on the breech block of your 105MM Howitzer in Fire Support Base Schroder may have taken you from us, we will NEVER forget your sacrifice for us all.
