SSgt William Benning is buried at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.

I am still here today, I have 3 children and grandchildren that would not be here had it not been for you.......Thanks again my friend....

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Staff Sergeant William Donavan Benning was awarded the Silver Star Medal for his conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action. He served as a Medical NCO (Combat Medic) and was assigned to SD-5891, HQ, MACV ADVISORS.

The last thing SSg William Benning done ion this earth was save my life, moments later he was killed...A friend and good soldier, I think of him often even after 53 years......
