Thank You

Dear Sp4 Wesley Mueller, Thank you for your service as a Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is the Last Week of Advent, which is love. Christmas is soon, Merry Christmas. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Your Relatives Never Forget

From the time I was a young child, I knew your story despite the fact that I was born 8 years after you were killed. Our family remembers and honors you, and continues to do so through the generations. We have several rubbings of your name from the wall in Washington, D.C. as each time we have been there, we have taken one. You have been included in school Memorial Day programs honors as well as family discussions. Your memory continues to live on in my descendents. Never forgotten.

July 25, 1969 Remembrance

I (Sgt. John F Johnson) was assigned to HHC 3/8 4th ID as Ammo Chief (responsible for providing all the ammunition's for the Battalion) part of the Battalion Support Platoon. As I remember a Supply Truck (driven by Homer from N or S Carolina) was sent to the Battalion Fire Base that ran over a mine that blew off the rear wheels of the (2 1/2 Ton) Truck. A (5 Ton) Tow (Wreaker)Truck assigned to Brigade was sent to retrieve the Supply Truck. The Medics Jeep (special long wheel base) with SP4 Wesley Mueller, Sp4 John Grainger, SSGT. Michael Batholomew and Captain Jose Alejando Delgado followed the Tow Truck out to the site to pick up the destroyed Supply Truck. During the drive or once they got to the site of the Supply Truck the Tow Truck Driver either stepped on a mine or ran over a mine as it destroyed the Tow Truck and Killed the Driver. At this same time the Medics Jeep ran over a Mine and that is when Dr. Delgado got out to see what had happened killing him and the others. It was another awful day near AnKhe VietNam. Dr. Delgado tended to my wound from May 11, 1969 and both of us were from the Los Angeles California area. I have been to Dr. Delgado grave site, located at Rose Hills Cemetery, Whittier, California.
Too many years ago to remember all of what happened that day July 25, 1969.
