John also earned the vietnam military merit medal , and including the gallantry cross for his actions. I have the list in my possession of those 2 medals.

Dear Sp4 John Mott, Thank you for your service as a Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is 3rd Week of Advent, and this week means joy. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

I wish I had had the chance to know you better, I was only 12 when you were killed. I have been going through photographs of you and have noticed that you helped daddy a lot with things around the house. I learned that you liked to take things apart and fixed them your son does the same thing. He and your daughter are fine adults.

Spec 4 Mott was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor for his exemplary courage under fire while serving with A Co, 1st Bn, 8th Infantry, 4th Infantry Div.
