honoring you....

War drew us from our homeland
In the sunlit springtime of our youth.
Those who did not come back alive remain
in perpetual springtime -- forever young --
And a part of them is with us always.

In memory

a hospital corpsman third class in the Navy, was killed Saturday in the fighting in Vietnam.

He had been in Vietnam since Nov. 4, 1965. In August, he was given rest and recuperation leave in Honolulu, Hawaii, and his wife, Mrs. Martha Louise Monan Morse of Sikeston, went there to visit him.
She did not take their son, Richard Scott Morse, 10 months, and Richard died without ever seeing his son.
Corpsman Morse joined the Navy Reserves in May, 1964, and was assigned to active duty on Oct. 1965.
In Vietnam, he was attached to Co. C., 3rd Engineering Battalion, 3rd Marine Division.
Born July 20, 1945, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Orlin Morse, who now reside in Fulton.
Prior to entering the service, he was employed at Hart's Bakery here and attended the Second General Baptist Church. He and Mrs. Morse were married May 29, 1965.

His body is expected to arrive in the US in about seven days and will be brought to the Jackson Funeral Home for funeral arrangements.
