The next door neighbor I never got to meet.

As a five year old boy, my parents rented the house next door to yours. Your mom & dad were very proud of your service and unselfish sacrifice for your country. I will never forget their memories they shared. Thank you for your service kind sir from one vet to another. God bless America!

Gone but not forgotten

Don was a HS classmate at Armijo and my first boyfriend. I remember him as very kind and caring, and who had always wanted to serve in the military. After his funeral my mother and I want to offer condolences to his mother, the most difficult thing I had ever done in my life. I was making final preparations for my wedding and future life and she would never have that opportunity. Great respect for his service and his family’s loss.

My next door neighbor

I grew up in Fairield Ca next door to Donny. He was the same age as my older brothers. We were all military families growing up. It was a proud day when he went into the Marines. The one thing I remember to this day is that before he left for Vietnam he gave me a Marine Corp flight jacket. I kept it for years until I went into the Army in 1968. I just recently learned the circumstance of his death. He will always be a hero in my eyes
