I knew Cliff in the 1st grade at New Cassel Elementary School in 1953-54 and spent 12 years growing up together in Westbury---both graduating in June 1965. Cliff's nick name was "Duck", not sure how he got that name but I do remember him well on the athletic field. Cliff was short in stature but strong, determined, and very competitive. He also was well respected by our class and just a good person to be around. I also served in the same area (just south of DaNang in Quang Nam Province) as Lance Corporal Bennett but it was 2-3 years after Cliff was killed in action. I know that his unit was on patrol and was ambushed in some very difficult terrain. But I regard Cliff as an American hero---he was a great Marine and even a better person. My thoughts and prayers are with the Bennett Family to this day. God bless Cliff.
