Remembering An American Hero
Dear CPL Charles Duane Bennett, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

Young neighbors thanks
As an 8 year old child, I remember your funeral. The flag drapped coffin and the moan of taps. I had never heard taps before and the memory has stayed with me. You, a neighbor I barely knew, or remember, but a family I grew up with and loved. You were our "crossroads" neighbors, Bennett's corner. I have never forgotten that funeral and I see your grave in my mind even though I no longer call Calhoun home, and it has been 40 years. As the Vietnam Moving Wall comes to Tifton, where I now live, I think of you often and wish to say, thank you. Not enough can be said about you and your families' sacrifice.

thank you
As a fellow American I would like to express my foremost gratitude to your profound sacrifice towards the service of America. I am a high school student in Gridley, Illinois, and am doing a project on the virtual wall. I have the greatest respect for soldiers such as you, who fight for the cause of others. Your selfless acts will never be forgotten by Americans.
