NATIVE AMERICAN PRAYER
It is said a man hasn't died as long as he is remembered. This prayer is a way for families, friends and fellow veterans to remember our fallen brothers and sisters. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die

My Best Friend, who gave up his life for others.......
Brian Bennett was my closest friend growing while I was growing up as a kid. Brian and I did everything together from the age of 8 to the age of 16 when my family moved away from his town. After that we talked on the phone, visited several times, and thought about him often when I wasnt around him.
When he went to nam, I held my breath everyday when we got news of new KIA's. Then that day came when my mom called me at college and told me Brian had given his life to save his platoon, holding off a dozen enemy while his platoon escaped. The gov. gave Brian the silver star and purple heart for his actions, for his heroism, and for his "laying down his life for others!"
That was totally who Brian was, so unselfish, so giving towards others, so willing to "do unto others..."
I'll always miss you Brian, but will see you one day when God calls me home too.
