honoring you....
A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.

I never got to know you..
I was 7yrs old..but I still remember the picture of the handsome young Marine on the bulletin board in the hall of the country school...I would reach up and touch as I walked by...and on the afternoons my grandmother had a teachers meeting...I would stand there and just look at your picture..No I never got to know you..but cannot forget you either..nor the pain in my grandfather's face..never saw the man cry..he would hold his face in hand while speaking of you..I felt his pain..and before that fatall day we got news of you being killed, when it was getting time for Cronkite he would say "mom turn on the TV we might see Mark on there"..no I never got to know you..but you are in my heart..as I sit here on this Feb day in Ky.. 63 yrs later in a cold sweat and tears streaming down my rugged face for the life lost..you are not forgotten..even tho' I never got to know you..
Your Ky cousin....C D Allen

Band of Little Brothers...
It brings a smile to my face when I remember being in Cub Scouts with you in Pack 89 (San Bruno). In our Den was Steve Ozark, Dennis Sullivan, Paul Kouns and myself among others. Mrs. Ozark was kind enough to be our Den Mother. We were a band of Little Brothers. You are remembered by our Capuchino Class of '64 and your name surfaces frequently as we remember your service and ultimate sacrifice. Rest in Peace dear Friend.
