Lasting memory
I have had you on my mind for decades. I’m 42 now. Never even had the chance to meet you but, I think of you often. Growing up, your pictures were on our walls, so in a way I got to see you EVERY day. I held your medals and beret in my small hands. Your burial flag always hung on the wall. You had made an impact. Grandma always spoke about you when I asked, and I did that a lot growing up with her. These days, I’m much further away from those pictures, medals and memories. So, I come here to see you when I can, and I honor your memory. Mi Heroe y mi abuelo.

Each year since September 2015, at the annual 5th Division Army reunion, members of the Society of the Fifth Division, U.S Army remember the 514 soldiers from the 1st Brigade, 5th Division, who were Killed in Action in Vietnam. You are among the soldiers remembered. You Are Not Forgotten!

I will never forget
Uncle I will never forget those time that you came home and put me on your shoulder and took me to see your friends around the Neiborhood, you will always be my hero and because of you I follow your step and joined the Army and had a successful military career for 21 and I know you are always watching over me.
