THE WALL OF FACES

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. You died at 18 years of age. I am 74 and have lived a long and fulfilling life. It is tragic you never had that same opportunity. May you rest in eternal peace.

Dear Sp4 William Montgomery, Thank you for your service as a Communication Center Special with Special Forces. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Yesterday was Veterans’ Day. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

On the remembrance of your birthday, your sacrifice is not forgotten.

Johnny was killed when I was a senior in high school. He was my favorite cousin and I
loved him very much. He was a wonderful human being. At his funeral, I promised to honor him by joining the military and taking his place. When I turned 18, I joined
the Navy to be a corpsman and take care of wounded Marines. Not a day goes by that I do not think of Johnny.

You were so close to coming home so that we could start a life together. Without you I took a long time to truly find someone else to love. When I did I finally understand that loving him did not diminish my love for you. I now know that both him and you will be among those I will join for eternity. I am listening to how God will use me until I can join you.
