Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. While all deaths in Vietnam are tragic that you died just four days before your 35th birthday is especially so. May you rest in eternal peace.

Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

CPT. Andrew C. Mitchell is my grandfather who I never had the pleasure to meet. Ive spent my life aspiring to be a pilot bc of him. Im currently an Army Aviator qualified as an AH64D Aviator. Andy and I were good friends. We trained together in B66s at Hurlburt Field, FL. 1958. Then transferred with our B66s to Alconberry RAF in England. Our wives Mary Jean and Alta toured Europe together for the time of their lives thru Rome Paris and Austria while Andy and I held the fort with our many children while we flew missions and awaited their return. He was “a Good Guy” to all who knew him. Andy was a good guy!
