Class Mate/Brother in Arms
I arrived in Vietnam on May 1st, 1969 - It was my third tour of duty, I had volunteered for all of them. This one was in the jungle near Cambodian border, couple weeks there, I received a letter from Mother with a clipping from Metamora Herald that showed my good Class of 66 friend had been KIA on day I arrived. Sad news for our little town and now I had lost a Brother-in-Arms... was a long year! Home now and member of Spring Bay American Legion. I Honor Steve every year at his resting place, and have been a part of many Honor Guards there. Always a Salute to Steven! 'That We Never Forget'

Hero
Steve was a great kid. We were high school friends. He grew up on a farm in the country near Metamora, IL. He never got to be married, he never got to be a father, he never got to be a grandfather. He will never be forgotten. He is forever young.
