Having a beer

Bill and I had a beer at Bearlake Campground just a couple days before he went back for a second tour. I was home on leave when he arrived back for burial, I went over in July 7. 1969. He told me not to worry but stay alert. RIP Bill

DEAR SERGEANT BELLILE,
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AS A FOOD SERVICE SPECIALIST. IT IS 2017, WHICH MAKES IT FAR TOO LONG FOR YOU TO HAVE BEEN GONE. WE APPRECIATE ALL YOU HAVE DONE, AND YOUR SACRIFICE. WATCH OVER THE U.S.A., IT STILL NEEDS YOUR COURAGE.. GOD BLESS YOU. MAY THE SAINTS AND ANGELS BE AT YOUR SIDE. REST IN PEACE.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SGT William Marvin Bellile, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter

I was There

William it was a rough night that night. I was there for a stand down with my Company, B/2/506th Infantry....I was their FO from B Battery, 2/319th and decided to sleep with the Battery. First the rockets came followed by mortars and finally small arms. 16 men were wounded including the Battery Commander and his Executive Officer. As things got quite the wounded were flown out. At daylight I was informed I was the new battery Commander. That night was hectic and many Bee Hive rounds were fired. There is not a doubt you pulled your weight, if you hadn't I would not be here today. Thank you brother. Picture is of A Battery 2/319th Artillery on Firebase Currahee where we parted. I am Cherokee and will make a tobacco offering in your memory
