On Your Birthday
It is 83 years ago that you were born, a day before me. We were best childhood friends. I miss you. Perhaps we will get the chance to review our childhood adventures when we all get to heaven. Even as a young boy, you wanted to fly. Fly away, my friend.

To my childhood hero!
Ken,
I was just 8 years old when you gave your life in Vietnam. I always admired you, and I eventually became an Army Aviator because I wanted to be like you. I served 29 Years in the Army, and became a Master Army Aviator because of your example. I always felt as if I was standing on the shoulders of a giant. Rest in peace, my brother. I'll be in formation with you when the seventh trumpet blows!
Philip Forsberg
Lieutenant Colonel
US Army (retired)

do not stand at my grave and weep....
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.

Thank You
Dear CWO Kenneth Messenger, Thank you for your service as an Utility & Light Cargo Single Rotor Helicopter Pilot. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is another autumn. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Ken... I still miss you, buddy, even 50 years later. I'm still not totally over the shock-- "How could it happen? A short-timer with only days to go..." Your death was way more than my loss; it was your family's and your country's loss. R.I.P. brother. I hope the Lord lets us tell a few war stories when we meet again in heaven.
