Thank You

Dear PO3C Jerome Menter, Thank you for your service as a Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class with the 5th Marines. Semper Fi. Thank you for the lives you saved. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is another autumn. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

You are not forgotten

I was at the cemetery today to clean my fathers headstone
And on my way out I passed a military headstone that was covered with leaves and dirt
I stopped to read what was visible and then decided to get out the bucket and clean off your headstone
As I cleaned it off it became clear to me that you were awarded the Purple Heart and has died in action. I looked up your name and saw that you were from Englewood which is nearby to my hometown in Cresskill.

I felt the need to say a prayer for you as it appeared that your grave had not been visited in a while
I left your headstone clean and cleared of debris as that was the least I could do for you

I thank you for your commitment to our country and I will always remember to say a prayer for you.
I will always keep your grave in good standing
God Bless you.

Jerry Menter was a good and great friend

Jerry Menter and I attended Hospital Corps School together at Grand Lakes Naval Training Center in 1968. He was one of my closest friends. He was a striker, he volunteered for Corps School, he wanted so badly to be a Corpsman and God knows he was a good one. I was devastated when I found out Jerry, I still am. I miss you terribly old friend, I have never forgotten you, you will always live within me. love you brother.
