Fishing holes in the Klickitat

"Carl drove through the town of Lyle on Sunday hoping to spot his girl. Not seeing her, he went into Lyle Cafe for a hamburger. Sitting at the counter he was waited on by a vivacious young lady. She introduced herself and asked what he was doing in Lyle. He shrugged his shoulders and said he thought he might go fishing. The girl's eyes brightened and she said she knew a couple great holes in the Klickitat River and could show him when she got off at one. Six months later, when home on leave from basic training, and ready to leave for Vietnam, they got engaged to be married." - Col. John D. Miller (Ret.) speech 8/31/17 Goldendale Opening of The Wall That Heals
