Dear Cpl Thomas Matty, Thank you for your service as a Multichannel Equipment Operator. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Independence Day just passed. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

I served with Tom at MCAS, El Toro before he deployed. He was a true gentleman and one of the few I invited home to San Diego on a liberty weekend. I have never forgotten him. While on a trip to Washington D.C. some years ago I looked his name up on the wall and took a rubbing which I still have. Semper Fi my friend.

I grew up in Vesta 6 directly across from Tom and Jimmy. I couldn't wait till Sat. morning, when we would look forward to playing Ball. Tom always made sure everybody got to play, no matter how good they where. He was very good at playing baseball and all sports.

I traced your name at the Vietnam Memorial in the early 90's...I'll never forget you Tom Matty. Your classmate. Bernie Russell.

To say that Tommy was a friend is all you can about Tommy Matty. He had no enemies. He was friendly to everyone. He was a great athlete, that never said a bad word about anyone. If there is a heaven he is in it.
