Thank You
Dear Sgt Charles Matthews, Thank you for your service as an Armor Crewman. I researched you on the 51st anniversary of the start of your tour. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Independence Day just passed. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Always in My Heart
Charles was my husband and was so proud of his service to the United States Army and humbly went to Vietnam to serve his country. However, he also wanted to return after his year of deployment. Part of me died that day with him. Too many families had their lives shattered by the Vietnam War. We never forget . . . . we just learn to live a different way.

My Uncle
He was my uncle...though I never had the pleasure of knowing him. Happy Memorial Day, Uncle Charlie. Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SGT Charles Crockett Matthews, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
