To Dan
Just to let you know I was thinking about you on this day which is the 70th anniversary of your birth! I will always recall the good and decent person and friend you were as we adapted to life as draftees into the U.S. Army during basic training at Fort Knox in D-8-3 in the fall of 1968! Rest in peace my friend!

DOES ANYONE KNOW?
I am from the Ravenna area and went through basic training at Ft Knox in the fall of 1968 with Dan. He was from either the Sparta area or the Kent City area- but I can't remember which after all these years. Does anyone know the correct answer to that? I did go to visit his grave site in Grand Haven a couple of years back when I visited the West Michigan area. He was really a nice and decent person- the guys in our basic training company/platoon liked him a lot- he was a good guy who died way too early!
