Remembering An American Hero
Dear PVT Willie Bedford, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

Bravo 1 - 1, 1st Platoon. May 3, 1970
I was the Guns Squad Leader of 1st. Platoon and was on the patrol that day in May when we stopped by the Song Yen River to wash up and cool our feet. There was a Dam with a powerful hydrofoil that Pvt. Bedford must of slipped into within the blink of an eye. We searched for him for two days, and was found on the third day by a Vietnamese fisherman. ' Heaven holds a place for the faithful departed ' . May your spirit watch over your family and friends, and may the light of God shine upon you. Semper Fi Marine.

Remembering a Great Soldier
I am a student in Gridley Illinois and for a Gridley High School posting project in U.S. History, my class and others are trying to post remembrances to all of the soldiers who have no remembrances on this monument. It is important to me, not only as an assignment, but as a duty that every soldier who may seem forgotten, but never will be, is recognized. I would like to thank you for all you have given us, with the deepest and sincerest thank you.
